About

Who we are, how the House came to be, and the people and partners who make it happen.

The Gardeners’ House is a restored 19th-century building at the top of Morrab Gardens in Penzance: a place to discover the landscape, heritage and people of West Cornwall.

Our story so far

Once stables, a fodder store and a coach-house, later home to the Head Gardener’s family and the gardens’ lawnmower donkey. After a nine-year journey led by Dr Melissa Hardie-Budden, the building is a learning and discovery centre for the whole community.

‘To bring a near-derelict building back to life, and celebrate the landscape and stories of West Cornwall.’
